New Gold mine is located south of Vanderhoof and east of Quesnel.
New Gold’s preliminary infrastructure for their Blackwater Project was completed through a joint venture with Lhoosk’uz First Nation.
Work here represents the first time that Duz Cho Construction has ventured out of McLeod Lake Traditional Territory and the first time that Duz Cho Construction has assisted a small band to participate in major earthworks. Duz Cho Construction’s contract involved the construction of 140 drill pads, and 75 km’s of access trails ranging from minimal use to all season roads.
During the construction of the access trails, we were challenged with flooding roads, bridge installation during fish stream windows and reclaiming sites that were outside of the dam foot print.
